Are the games ready?

The actual games are far from being selected.  In fact, it is currently impossible for any manufacturer to have a game ready for the Illinois market because the technical specifications and game requirements have not yet been set by the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB).

When will location applications be coming out?

All the licensing applications are currently in development.  If the IGB gets enough funding before the end of 2009 we would expect the applications to be available during the first quarter of 2010.  However if the funding is not available, the IGB will likely delay the release of the applications because they do not have the staff available to conduct the necessary investigations.  Once the applications are released , each establishment will be responsible for filling it out.  Rumor has it that these applications may be upwards of 30 pages long and could require the assistance of an attorney to complete.

Preparation suggestions from IGA;

To help yourself prepare, you may want to run background checks on yourself and any partner with a 5% or more interest in the business.  Clear up any outstanding legal issues if possible.  Get copies of the latest federal and state tax returns for yourself and the establishment.  If you can't get a hold of these documents, request transcripts from the IRS and state of Illinois.  If income taxes are owed, arrange a payment plan with the IRS.  Make sure all state and local sales taxes are current and no licenses are expired.  Make sure all entities are in good standing with the state!
